Corinne Colette Hennessey is a freshman Fashion Communication major with a passion for communicating through the median of technology. Proud owner of numerous blogs and a mesmerizing Instagram account, she has just been appointed as the Blog Director for Polished, Lasell’s fashion publication.
Corinne created her first blog the moment she decided to pursue a career in fashion, and hasn’t looked back since. Although she claims her first blog was not perfect, she said the important part was that, “everyone needed to know that I was trying, and I wasn’t going to stop until I got where I wanted to be.” Since then she has created two more personal blogs, the most recent being, Our Own Kind of Wonderland, a fashion/lifestyle blog.
Corinne, a self proclaimed magazine junkie, said she fell in love with blogging because it is like having her own personal magazine. Her fashion inspirations are self-made women who fearlessly pursue their dreams, such as Sophia Amoruso, Amy Odell, Leandra Medine, and Alexa Chung. She also loves discovering new bloggers on Instagram, such as Chiara Ferragni of the Blonde Salad, or the entire editorial staff from Teen Vogue. Her life inspirations are her family, friends, anyone who works hard to make something they are proud of, and anyone with a chronic illness that gets up everyday and lives life, even though it’s difficult.
Corinne received the position as Blog Director just a couple weeks into her time here as Lasell, but it was by no stroke of luck! She spent hours creating blog proposals and ideas on how to improve the Polished blog before attending her interview, and cites going, “above and beyond what [she] was asked to do”, as the reason for receiving, “above and beyond what [she] was asking for.”
Upon the start of her new job, Corinne says she is most excited to start working with all the new bloggers. Corinne gushed about her staff, “they’re all so creative and we all have different niches so I’m learning a lot from reading their articles.” She is also excited to start learning more about blogging, stating, “I’m developing an editor’s eye, I have to constantly ask myself, ‘is this good? How can we improve this to make it even better? What will the reader think of this? Is it they’re there or their?’ Grammar is important!”
