The U.S. Department of Justice reports that a quarter of college women are victims of sexual assault. In an effort to increase the awareness of violence against women and point out normalized (and celebrated) examples of sexual violence, the Humanists of Boston University have begun a protest against the Robin Thicke concert at the Agganis Arena. The concert is still scheduled for tomorrow night (March 4), and the protest is open to all. Another way to show your support is to sign the petition on www.change.org (https://www.change.org/petitions/boston-university-administration-cancel…). The Humanists of Boston University have initiated a very necessary discussion about artists enabling sexual violence. It seems obvious, when one of the most popular songs is entitled “Blurred Lines” in reference to consent, that we have a large problem of normalized sexual violence on our hands. Show your support at the concert tomorrow night, or discuss your thoughts below.
