Halloween Movies You Need to Watch on Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at La Verne chapter.

Although the season may be spooky, Halloween will always bring out the inner kid within me. Dressing up in costumes and trick-or treating is dandy, but my favorite part of Halloween is watching movies and eating candy. Last week, we wrote the top 10 horror movies to watch for October. Now, we’re going to give you the top 10 family friendly and nostalgic films to watch for October.

1. Halloweentown 1 & 2

Both Disney Channel movies our iconic and fun for the whole family. Who knew that 90s kids would love a story about a family of witches and an alternate world that lives Halloween every day.

2. Hocus Pocus

Nostalgic, classic, a catchy theme song and Sarah Jessica Parker- this movie has it all.

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas

For those who can’t make it to Disneyland this holiday season, watch this film and you’ll feel right at home.

4. Twitches

This film is one of the in between Disney channel original movies starring our favorite twins Tia and Tamera Mowery who discovers they are twin witches.

5. Casper

Our favorite friendly ghost who is beyond adorable and has been stealing our hearts since the 90s.

6. Don’t Look Under the Bed

Another nostalgic Disney channel original film that was a tad bit terrifying.

7. Haunted Mansion

Although underrated, perfect for the Halloween season. A movie based off of Disneyland’s classic ride starting Eddie Murphy.

8. Beetlejuice

The not so scary classic film is perfect for the family. Staring legendary actors with laughs and another catchy song this movie will continue being one of our favorites.

9. Casper Meets Wendy

This film was a dream come true for 90s kids. A meet up with Casper and a young Hillary Duff,we couldn’t ask for more.

10. Phantom of the Megaplex

Last but not least, another forgotten Disney film. With plots and mystery, this films is sure to leave you in suspense.
