At the end of November, Ed Sheeran released a brand new version of his majorly mushy hit ‘Perfect’ on Spotify. Ever since Perfect began climbing the charts and rising to the top of all of our top 5 favorite love songs (I can at least speak for myself, and I know I’m not alone), multiple remixes and even an acoustic version of this song have been released as well. The only thing missing, of course, was a duet version, so I was not surprised to see that added to the mix. What DID surprise me was Ed Sheeran’s choice in a duet partner.

I know that this sounds like I’m saying Ed Sheeran shouldn’t WANT to sing with Beyonce. That’s not what I mean at all- it’s just that the two of them are insanely musically talented, but in completely different ways. I just never saw the two of them fitting together, being two halves of a whole, even in a song. When I saw “Ed Sheeran & Beyonce” in the title of the duet, I was skeptical. Regardless, I listened anyway, because maybe I was wrong.

I was. I guess it’s hard to say exactly what I was expecting, but when I heard Beyonce start singing the second verse, all of those expectations went out the window. Their voices blend so well together, and the song felt even more powerful with her perspective included in it. I’m not going to lie and say that tears weren’t shed. This song is just one of many things that prove that Beyonce’s touch improves literally everything.

Beyonce will always continue to prove her musical superiority in any music she releases of her own or any collaborations that are lucky enough to feature her, but recently, she has branched out (no pun intended, except that it definitely was) as the face of one of the new Christmas tree toppers designed by not-for-profit organization Women To Look Up To. WTLUT has recently designed tree toppers that resemble powerful and influential women, the kind that you’d like to look up and see on top of your living room Christmas tree. Who better to look up to, above the pretty lights and ornaments, than her?

In short, Beyonce is still on top, in every aspect. I think we can all drink to that- especially now that she has her very own beer tribute, “Bïeryoncé”. This alcoholic form of dedication from Lineup Brewing (of which a further explanation can be found here) is yet another result of the gratitude many women feel towards Beyonce for being the force of empowerment that she is. To this, I think we can all say “Cheers”.
