The 7 Stages of Moving As Told by Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

1. Excited! A new town, new friends, new opportunities! So many possibilities await, and you can’t wait to tackle them!

2. Overwhelmed. Time to find a new place, set up utilities, a job, pack, ect. ect. It’s too much!

3. Sad. You’re about to leave all your friends, family, favorite restaurants, familiarity… Can’t they all just come with you?

4. Nervous. What if you go through all this work and fall flat on your face? What if you DON’T make new friends? What if you hate it???

5. Relieved! You’re here and you’re ready to make your dreams come true.

6. Over it. You’ve spent the last weeks of your life living in and out of boxes. You’re ready to just BE DONE already and live like a human again.

7. And finally, content. You’re settled, you’ve started meeting people, and the adventure awaits.
