As someone who has lost more earring backs than she cares to count, I have learned the importance of keeping a jewelry tray on my night stand for the nights when I fall into bed and throw my jewelry somewhere that I will hopefully find in the morning.  To make it fun and personalized, all you need is a paint pen, letter stencils, a saucer (I got mine in the gardening section at Walmart) and clear spray paint or clear nail polish.

Step 1: Apply initials to center of the saucer. Measure with your fingers to make sure it is pretty even.

Step 2: Fill in the letters with paint pen. Allow to dry completely before applying additional coats for desired coverage (I found three worked really well). Rough edges can be scraped off with a toothpick or paperclip.

Step 3: Add a decorative background.  I tried to go for a chevron pattern and cut a post-it note for a stencil.

Step 4: Add decorative border.  Keeping with the KU theme I chose RCJH and hearts, because who doesn’t love KU?  No one.  That’s who.

Step 5: Apply a coat of clear spray paint or clear nail polish.  I used a clear coat of matte spray paint with UV protection so the white paint won’t yellow over time, but clear nail polish will work too.  Clear spray paint can be purchased at any craft store for about $5 for an 11 ounce can.  Allow spray paint to dry for two hours before putting the new jewelry tray to use.  For around $6 you have a fun new personalized jewelry tray.
