4 Ways to Stay Organized During a Busy Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

It’s midway through the semester and things are starting to get hectic. With the craziness of midterms and schedules becoming tighter and tighter, keeping life in order mid-semester can be a challenge. Here are a few tips for staying organized during this busy time:

1. Keep a planner. Having a detailed planner with due dates of assignments and social events can be extremely helpful with keeping life organized. Writing down assignments at the beginning of the semester guarantees that at this point in time, it’s unlikely for you to overlook an assignment or forget what was on the syllabus. It can be a hassle, but taking time to plan out each day can make a world of a difference when you’re stuck in a crazy week. Believe me, it will keep you much saner to have everything in one place and planned out.

.

2. Make lists. For me, making daily and weekly lists keeps me ahead of the game and makes me stick to a plan. If you have trouble getting things done in a timely matter or you procrastinate a lot, try making lists. Everything you need to do is written down, so it’s not just floating around in your head. Also, crossing things off lists is super rewarding and makes you feel accomplished!

.

3. Keep your desk clean. I didn’t realize this until high school, but working in a clean environment makes a huge difference in my productivity. If you have clothes and papers and whatever else covering your study space, it can be difficult to focus on your studies because you might be subconsciously thinking about all of the messiness. Try keeping a clean desk, you might get a lot more done!

.

4. Add some music. I can’t study in a very loud environment, but I also don’t like it to be absolutely silent when I study. Turning on some Pandora or a studying Spotify playlist to have nice background music while you study can be beneficial. There are a ton of study stations on both Spotify and Pandora, and they’re also both free!
