We are halfway through April, and though we haven’t had as much sunshine as I would like, it is still (technically) spring. The daffodils and crocuses are exploding along Middle Path, thanks in part to these “lovely” April showers. While the sun may not always be shining on us in Ohio, we can at least bring spring fashion from the depths of our sweater-stuffed closets, down to every detail.
On days like the beginning of this past week where all I want to do is sit inside, what better thing to do (partially to procrastinate) than paint my nails? It’s one of my favorite things to do anyway because it can be such a fun way to express yourself. Here are some of my suggestions for spring nail colors:
1. Yellow
When the sun isn’t out, bring the sun yourself with this basic (yet playful) shade. I like a brighter hue that, with the help of a Sharpie or a black nail art pen, you can draw a cute design like a sun onto once it’s dry!
2. Neutral
Using a shade close to your skin tone is simple, chic, and hot this season. I use Sally Hansen’s Almost Almond – it’s the perfect balance of a soft color with a nice shimmer to make your nails look beyond fabulous. The person in the picture above used Essie’s Ballet Slippers!
3. Royal Blue
Royal blue is hot all year round, and is totally in this year. Bright and bold, it brings a funky pop of color to a black-and-white ensemble, or to a grey April day!
4. Lavender
Purple is always in, especially at Kenyon. Spring is a time for bringing out pretty pastels, like this trendy lavender!
5. Mint
I have been loving this color for years, and I’m so glad it’s coming back! I painted my toenails mint just a few days ago. It’s sweet, but it’s subtle – so fun!
These are some of my suggestions for nail painting parties this spring! Red, black or white are always classic, so you can never go wrong there if some of these colors aren’t really your style. I got to spend an embarrassing amount of time on Pinterest researching cool colors and designs, like this awesome mash of orange and pink with smidges of multiple other colors. The pattern reminds me of dandelions.
Do you guys have any favorite nail polish colors or designs? I’d love to hear what you say for some inspiration!
