Hi Lin! Thank you so much for being this week’s HCK Campus Celebrity! I know you’re involved in a lot on campus, but some know you best as one of the Discrimination Advisors. What inspired you to become a DA? Thank YOU so much for choosing me! It was so kind of you, and it really made my day. I was really drawn to the DA’s dual mission: supporting students on an individual basis while also educating our community about social justice. We work to promote equity at all levels: interpersonal as well as systemic. On a personal note, I became a DA because I wanted Kenyon to have more dialogue about accessibility and universal design. I’m thankful that this year has been so conducive to addressing these kinds of issues, especially with the Master Plan being released.

You’re originally from Ohio, so you stayed pretty close to home when you came to college! Still, what do you miss the most about home? The obvious things, like spending time with my family, seeing my old friends, and Target. Definitely Target.

On the other hand, what’s your favorite thing about Kenyon? I get to live in a community with several of the kindest and most inspiring people I know. When’s that going to happen again? #blessed

Earlier this year, you met and hung out with RJ Mitte when he came to speak at Kenyon! What was that like? RJ was a really sweet guy! He asked a lot of questions to get to know everyone who came to dinner. He’s so funny and so cute, and meeting him just made me admire him even more than I already did.

What three words would you use to describe yourself? Caffeine, optimism, and Tumblr.

If you could party with any three people in the world, who would they be and why? Ooh, this is a tough one. My first pick is Banks because I’m obsessed with her music. She was also a psychology major, so we could totally bond over that. And then would be Judy Smith, the real-life Olivia Pope. She’s such a badass, and she’d be able to fix things if the party got a little too wild, you know? And then John Oliver, because he’s absolutely hilarious.

If Jeni’s made an ice-cream just for you, what flavor would it be and why? Lychee! I don’t think I have to explain how delicious that would be.

Finally, what is one thing on your Kenyon bucket list? I’ve never ordered Cove for myself, so we’ll see how long it’ll take for that to change.
