Sit down with campus organizer Zachery Sand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Name: Zachery Sand

Age: 21

Major: Political Science

Her Campus: What got you interested in politics?

Zachery Sand: It may be a cliche statement but I have always wanted to make a difference in the world and for me I know the difference I can make is shaping policy through politics.

HC: What are you currently up to in the political world?

ZS: I am the campus organizer for the Hillary Clinton campaign here on Kent State’s campus.

HC: If you could meet any politician, alive or dead, who would it be?

ZS: Hands down, it would be John F. Kennedy.

HC: Do you think people should publicly discuss politics?

ZS: I do! I think face-to-face in a respectful discussion, but posting your political beliefs on social networks and belittling people who do not share those same beliefs is completely disrespectful.

HC: What is your dream job?

ZS: My dream job would be to be a foreign service officer for the United States in Italy.

HC: What is your next step?

ZS: After the campaign, I plan on finishing my senior spring semester here at Kent and moving to Washington D.C.

HC: Where do you see yourself in five years?

ZS: I see myself hopefully working in the State department.

HC: Do you prefer Starbucks or Dunkin?

ZS: Starbucks.

HC: Early Voting or Absentee Voting?

ZS: Early voting.

HC: Best campaign memory so far?

ZS: So far, my favorite memory is just honestly getting our age group politically involved for their first time.
