Are you a student at Kent State University who is a strong feminist looking for a kick-butt women’s organization to join during your time at college? Are you unsure of which one to join? Well, look no further. This week Her Campus Kent State is doing a campaign called #LoveYourLocalGirlGangs where we will be featuring five fabulous organizations here at Kent State. The intent is to empower women while having fun and doing something they love and are passionate about! Check out the interview below for all the details of these organizations below!

Kent State Pink

Her Campus: What is the purpose/goal of your organization?

Kent State PINK: To spread the PINK brand on campus through various events, marketing strategies and word of mouth.

HC: How does your organization empower women?

PINK: Kent State PINK empowers women to be comfortable in their own skin, and to be confident in themselves overall. Kent State PINK instills the idea of the PINK brand on campus, and promotes the idea of looking good and feeling comfortable on campus.

HC: Who is in charge of your organization?

PINK: Campus Representatives: Taylor Pierce, senior public relations major and Samantha Arslanian senior business management major.

HC: Taylor, why did you join this organization?

PINK: I personally started out as a campus team member during my sophomore year at Kent State. I immediately fell in love with the brand and everything it entails. I applied to be a campus representative because of the immense amount of passion I have for the brand, and I wanted to be able to continue to spread that iconic brand on campus. I love planning the events, and hosting the various social challenges because there’s nothing better than seeing the girls’ reactions. So much work goes into everything we do as reps and it’s rewarding to watch girls enjoy our stuff, it really pays off and I love it very much.

HC: Tell us about your upcoming events for this year!

PINK: We will be hosting a very exclusive and top secret event on Wednesday, November 8th. We can’t tell anyone what it is yet, but it will be taking place on campus and tons of free PINK products will be given away. We are very excited about this event and hope it has a good turnout!

Additionally, on Tuesday, November 28th, we are hosting our annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Viewing Party from 8 to 11 p.m. at Paninis in Downtown Kent. We are SO excited about this party and have tons of fun surprises in store. We have a variety of local businesses donating prizes for the raffles during the show, and are giving away over 300 PINK items. We also have a DJ and different food and drink specials.

HC: How does someone become a member?

PINK: We have a Campus Team made up of 8-10 girls. We typically hire the girls on in the fall semester and offer them the position again for the spring semester as long as there aren’t any issues. So girls can look for applications in August or September and apply to be on our team then!

Additionally, both Sam and I are graduating, so there will be two open Campus Rep positions in the fall of 2018. If girls are interested in becoming a rep, they apply on the Victoria’s Secret PINK website around March or April.

HC: How can students stay updated on everything KSU Girl this semester?

PINK: Follow us on social media! We are always posting and updating all of our social handles.
