Lil Uzi Vert wowed his fans at the Mac Center Sunday night. Students wrapped around the Kent Student Center in the rain waiting for the show and could not wait to get their place on the floor or in the stands.

Waka Flocka Flame was set to perform before Uzi, but due to personal issues was unable to make the show. Students were overwhelmingly excited to hear that breakthrough artist Playboi Carti would be taking his place! He hit the music scene with his first full-length, self-titled album in April of 2017 and already has a fan base of millions. He definitely gained more fans from Kent when he played his hit single “Magnolia”. Carti managed to keep energy and hold audience interest for the main event!

When Uzi hit the stage, the crowd jumped and swayed within seconds. Everyone had their cell phone lights facing the stage and bobbed up and down to the beat. As an individual who has never experienced a rap concert before, I was blown away by the environment surrounding the show! Everyone was there to have a great time and dance the night away. No one felt out of place if they were not familiar with every lyric or song. All that was necessary was a desire to feel the music.

A few songs into his performance, Uzi decided to climb up some bleachers and hop into the general admission section. He was greeted by several phones in his face and lots of starstruck fans. The whole auditorium roared with excitement when “Bad and Boujee” played! Everyone chanted “Rain drop, drop top!” as if their lives depended on the phrase!

The show closed out with Uzi’s most popular and most highly anticipated song “XO Tour Llif3.” He barely needed a microphone as the crowd sang for him. “Push me to the edge, all my friends are dead!” could be heard from every corner of the room! He must’ve loved the energy at the MAC because he said “I don’t wanna leave you guys!” His DJ played a second round of “XO Tour Llif3” and fans left slowly with big smiles and tired arms!

For the biggest Uzi fans, there is no need to worry! He is working on a new music project and collaborating with Marilyn Manson!

He will be touring major cities through November! Even if you are not a huge Uzi or rap fan in general, I highly recommend going to one show for the experience. To put it in teen lingo… it was LIT!
