A commercial comes on, what do you do? Change the channel? Go get a snack? Check facebook? But wait, you hear something. It’s a melody that’s sweet to your ears, could this really be coming from a commercial??

How many times have you found yourself wondering, “What amazing song is playing in the background of this commercial?” You run to your computer and desperately search for this song. YouTube, Google , Yahoo, whatever your search choice-- you must find it! Let’s say you find it, cool, you’re ahead of the game. Let’s say you don’t. Well, then you are stuck waiting to see if it makes the top charts on iTunes.

So if you've been searching, here they are. Add them to your playlist and groove while you pregame for The Pub (because you know you won't be hearing any good music there!) The following are ten songs that you will probably recognize from commercials:

1. 1901- Phoenix. I love Phoenix. Their music is great for working out and cruising around town. Maybe you heard it before, but I’m sure the majority of the population knows it from a Cadillac commercial. You see this sleek Cadillac SRX driving through the streets and you hear this amazing song in the background. Then you see the driver shift gears without a second thought. (See I told you… perfect cruise tunes!)

2. New Soul- Yael Naom. It’s an “oldie” now, but the first time I heard “New Soul” was on a commercial. I’m sure many of you had heard it before and it sat without play in your music library. Then the next thing you know it’s in the Macbook Air commercial and becomes a hit! It went from never played to the top of your playlist. I’ve even heard it in mixes, cough cough GIRL TALK.

3. Sleepy Head- Passion Pit. I’m kind of a music junkie and I knew of the song from a friend, but most of you probably know it from a Sprint commercial advertising the Palm Pixi. You see this sweet phone and hear this sweet song; it’s a perfect combination. It’s non other than, Passion Pit. Passion Pit is an eclectic band that describes the songs of their latest CD as “all part of a greater plan.” I suggest you check out “The Reeling,” it’s good.

4. Two Weeks- Grizzly Bear. A kid is punching his grandpa? Cops are punching cops? Who cares, as long as the song in the background keeps playing. It’s a sweet little melody described by the band as, “an other-worldly doo wop.”

5. Beggin’- Madcom. The commercial is for ADIDAS , so you know the music has to be somewhat good. It’s old school meets new school, very catchy.

6. Meet Me Halfway- Black Eyed Peas. So it’s weird hearing Fergie talk about Direct TV but this song is amazing. It’s not too slow but not too fast at the same time. Check out the rest of “The E.N.D.” CD, it’s great for parties!

7. Rawnald Gregory Erickson The Second- Starf*****. So the band’s name is a little inappropriate but their song is really good. You will notice this in a target ad for their pharmacy. Sweet song.

8. Major Tom (Coming Home)- Shiny Toy Guns. You see a car racing against the speed of light. Well if the Lincoln MKZ is actually doing this unbelievable thing there needs to be a fitting song, Major Tom is just that. It's kind of 80s but the Shiny Toy Guns take it to another level.

9. Daylight- Matt and Kim. You see a guy walking through a party, not just any party though; he’s walking through the decades! This Matt and Kim hit goes perfectly.

10. How You Like Me Now- The Heavys. So you have a stuffed monkey, a robot, a teddy bear and a one-eyed-Gumby-type thing, gallivanting around town. A song with a tight beat has to be used to fit their crazy lifestyle, right? “How You Like Me Now” is their anthem of course.
