Part 1 | Coffee

Oh coffee, where do I even begin? You were my first caffeinated beverage. I remember the days of pouring spoonful after spoonful after sugar to hide the bitterness that I would eventually grow to love. Look how far we’ve come? You’re the first thing I think about in the morning; I truly can’t start my day until I’ve had at least one cup to wake me up. Though I prefer a hot cup of strong, black coffee with no sweetener (except perhaps a splash of milk), I also love a good iced coffee, cold brew, latte, mocha, or frozen treat. You are and always will be my one true love when it comes to getting my caffeine fix. Thank you for all you do, coffee <3

Part 2 | Tea

I haven’t forgotten you, tea! While you may not be strong enough to wake me up like coffee, you certainly keep me going throughout the day. You have a blend for my every need, which makes me love you even more. When I do need a little caffeine boost, my chai+espresso blend with a splash of milk always gets the job done. When I’m sleepy and need a soothing cup of tea to lull me to sleep, a warm cup of chamomile is what I reach for. During the day, I tend to reach for a green tea, or cup of English breakfast with milk and sugar. You’ve been there for me through it all, and I’m extra appreciative of you when I’m sick.

Part 3 | Energy Drinks

You are ruining my life! I’m not even including a photo of you in this article because doing so might tempt me to run to the store and buy a can of you. I never intended to become so dependent on you, but college life changed me for the worse. Don’t get me wrong, I guess I’m grateful for those nights you kept me awake so I could cram for an exam or finish a paper; however, now I can get enough of you! I’ve tried so many times to quit you cold turkey, but you somehow sneak your way back into my life every time. I know you’re unhealthy but damn it, you make a caffeine-deprivation headache vanish in a flash. I guess this is my fault and not yours, but it’s time for our relationship to come to an end. This isn’t easy for me, but I think it’s better for the both of us.
