Approximately a month ago, I downloaded a dating app. Being a busy college student with an on-campus job and several extra curricular activities, I don’t really have much time to meet people. I’ve heard good and bad things about the app and decided to give it about a month to see what happened. After one in-person date and several other lengthy conversations, I came to a conclusion: It’s just not for me. I’ve met so many people who met their significant others on Tinder…one of my best friends met her boyfriend on there! As far as my romantic life, I tend to find online dating incredibly stressful. Not having that face-to-face encounter makes it difficult to start an interesting conversation outside from, “So what’s your major?” I crave that interaction in a coffee shop or a bookstore when I least expect it. So what are my final thoughts on the app? If you’re looking for a short-term fling or have the time to sort through the randos and find someone worthy of your time, by all means download the app. If you happen to be a hopeless romantic like myself and dream of that in-person meeting that would make fairytales jealous, I would skip the app and instead bring your favorite book to a coffee shop. Who knows — it might be someone else’s favorite as well.
