Jen Parravani '14By April 20, 2013 - 11:30pm Year: Junior Majors: Media arts and design and sociology Her Campus JMU: What has your JMU experience been like so far? Jen: My JMU experience so far has been “one crazy beautiful ride,” to be cliché. It has had a fair share of ups and downs but since coming to college I have learned more about myself than I ever thought would be possible. I had the normal dose of homesickness, changed my major three times, and took a while to find my niche on campus but once I did everything else seemed to really fall into place. HC: Besides Her Campus, what else are you involved in? READ MORE |

April Roth-Gulotta: The Feminine FeministBy March 21, 2013 - 8:00am What is a feminist? Politicians and news anchors spent a good chunk of the last election throwing around “Women’s Rights Issues,” but somehow the word ‘feminist’ still has a negative stigma. So what makes communications professor April Roth-Gulotta tell her students that she’s a feminist? What is ‘feminism’ to you? Really, feminism is about how I relate to myself. It has nothing to do with my relationship with men, and more about my relationship to the rest of the world. The goal of the movement encompasses the equal treatment of all genders, races, socio economic statuses, sexual preferences, etc. And I think that race, gender, economic status, and where we come from have a lot to do with whether or not we’re feminists.... |

Deena Agamy: President of To Write Love on Her ArmsBy February 22, 2013 - 5:18pm Traveling across the Atlantic Ocean to earn her double college degree, sophomore Deena Agamy never ceases to try new things. Living in Germany since middle school, Deena decided to return to the States to study political science and psychology with a minor in biology. Deena tries to get the most out of her JMU experience by becoming involved with the Marching Royal Dukes, Phi Alpha Delta (a pre-law fraternity), and being an RA. To top it off, she recently became president of the national organization To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA). Because this is a lesser-known club on campus with a strong mission, I decided to find out more about what this club entails. READ MORE |
