9 Things We’ve Conquered This Year at JMU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

How in the world is this year almost over? It seems like August was just yesterday, but somehow it’s almost time to pack up and leave the ‘Burg for a few months. But instead of getting sad about impending finals and saying our goodbyes, let’s reminisce. It was a big year—we’ve been through quite a lot, Dukes.

The initial hype that came with two brand new Dunkin’ Donuts locations on campus and the inevitable long lines that came with them.

All the hills, stairs, and tiring walks to class.

The JMflU. Whether that means being huddled up sick in bed or avoiding all human contact and washing your hands 75 times a day.

Snow, snow, snow, and just when you thought it was spring…more snow.

That preacher that hung out outside of Carrier for two days, just to remind us that ignorance is still alive and well.

Navigating the new Student Success Center and figuring out where exactly all the offices are.

Finding a seat in Carrier during midterms and finals.

Meeting new friends and falling in friend-love almost immediately.

And finally…resisting the urge to break into tears every time you realize another year is almost over.
