Winter Olympics Recap – Nathan Chen

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JHU chapter.

Many people have been wildly anticipating this years Winter Olympics in South Korea, and especially for Nathan Chen to make his olympic debut.  Considered the best American skater this year, he was seen by many as the favorite to win the Gold for the U.S. in South Korea.

If you watched his performance in the team event, then you saw that things did not go according to plan.  He scored an 82.27, a very low score.  As an athlete, a performance such as this one are hard to watch.  We have all been there, at rock bottom looking up, wondering how on earth we got there after a period of success.

Watching how he will perform after this will display the courage, tenacity, and tact that he has.  Because he has never experienced this situation before, it most likely will be one of the hardest things he has done as an athlete.

We are rooting for him, and hope he has an amazing comeback this weekend!!
