If the Disney Princesses Went to Johns Hopkins…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JHU chapter.

Come Halloween, Homewood is filled with vampires, witches, and…princesses! But what if the Disney princesses were students at JHU all year round?

Belle: The Hipster

If Belle is a princess, Gilman is her castle.  You can find Belle day or night in the reading room, usually working on her novel.  It’s a good thing she has Lumiére to brighten up the place. She’s a women’s studies major, but she was into feminism way before Beyoncé made it cool.  She also writes for all the campus lit mags, including Zeniada, Thoroughfare, and J-Magazine, and works at the Writing Center.  Belle can be seen having fun from time to time, of course.  Her favorite hobbies include taking one bite out of every dish in the FFC and learning to ballroom dance in the Mattin Center.

Tiana: The Club President

Everyone knows her, or at least knows of her.  Maybe you saw her a cappella group’s performance.  Maybe you spotted her giving a tour.  Or maybe you only know her from her hundreds of posts in your class Facebook page, encouraging you to participate in Hoptoberfest, sign a petition, or attend her meet-the-sisters event.  In all honesty, you probably read all of her SAAB articles and B’More videos before you even stepped onto campus freshman year.

Cinderella: Never Does Her Work On Time

Cinderella is a slave to the ticking clock.  It seems like she’s always forgetting about a problem set, and rushing off to finish it in the last minute.  She is the friend who is always most excited to go out, but without fail leaves early because she forgot to hit send on her IFP assignment.  That can come in handy, though.  Friends make a last-minute decision to check out FIJI rooftop? Cinderella can make a complete transformation in matter of seconds (we have a hunch she’s getting help from her mice friends in the AMRs, though)! But she has a habit of losing a shoe at the frats and walking home barefoot.

Sleeping Beauty: Stays Out Way Too Late

Sleeping Beauty is always trying to have a good time.  She is always the last one to leave the party, but the first one to go out.  In fact, it’s not unlikely to find her sleeping on a frat couch the next morning.  She’s most likely to be spotted walking back to her room at 8 AM on a Sunday morning, still in her princess dress. Thankfully, she’s in a sorority and her three Bigs, Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather, are always looking out for her.

Snow White: Thinks She’s In A Frat

We all know that girl.  The girl who didn’t want to join a sorority because she knew she would be too busy hanging out with “the boys.” She’s hanging out in the frat house more than she’s in her own room.  She probably doesn’t have very many female friends, but that’s okay because she has her “brothers.”  Whatever frat Snow chooses to join is most certainly lucky, though.  Who do you think mops the basement floors the next day?

Jasmine: Loves Baltimore

Jasmine came to college to find a whole new world.  She comes from a really small town, so she loves being a part of city life.  Whether it’s Hampdenfest, a Ravens game, or the aquarium, Jasmine cannot get enough of Baltimore life.  She sometimes comes off as reckless; most of us don’t even like walking further than Homewood or Maxie’s.  But there’s nothing like taking a magic JHMI ride to show you the shining, shimmering splendor of your new home. Spoiler alert: she’ll probably fall in love with a local B’more boy.

You can always find Ariel hanging out on the Beach!

She’s probably studying for her marine biology midterm, playing with her boyfriend Eric’s dog…or checking out the dinglehoppers in the FFC.
