Two TV Reboots We Are Looking Forward to This SummerBy May 16, 2013 - 6:39pm Often I feel like Hollywood has trouble developing original scripts. Everything is a sequel in a high-budget franchise or based on a novel. The same concept relates to the silver screen. When a funny, original, yet sometimes formulaic show like ABC's Happy Endings gets the boot, you start to lose faith in original characters and plotlines (I am still incredibly bitter about this, you guys). You look around and you think that everything is an adaptation. Yet, I love a good adaptation. My summers are defined by the sound of the radio playing baseball games and the Agatha Christie Mysteries on PBS on summer Sunday nights. Here are two reboots I am so excited about: Girl Meets World: READ MORE... |

HC Approved Sites to Sink BoredomBy May 9, 2013 - 7:41pm Ever caught yourself mindlessly scrolling through Facebook in the middle of class even though you were supposed to be pay attention to the professor? Or, have you had a late night on B-level with a last minute essay because you spent an hour scrolling through Grumpy Cat memes on Reddit? First of all, it would be best if you actually took lecture notes and concentrated on writing a paper. However, if you really need something to do on the web during study breaks or extreme boredom, explore these other choices that are intriguing and more productive than looking at all the photos of strangers popping up on your Facebook wall. 1. www.time.com READ MORE |

HC JHU Pinspired: Easy College MealsBy May 6, 2013 - 4:39pm As sophomore year winds down, I’ve become very excited for junior year to begin. Even though I have a long, much needed summer between now and then, I’ve been finding myself daydreaming about my apartment next year. Many current sophomores are counting down the days until they can move into their new apartments and their new, freer lifestyle away from campus housing. While more freedom certainly sounds inviting, one aspect of living off campus has me a little anxious- cooking for myself. As the complete opposite of a domestic spirit, I have to admit that I’m already nostalgic for the simplicity of Nolan’s and Char Mar. READ MORE |

Spring Time at Hop!By May 1, 2013 - 6:35pm Happy spring, collegiettes! It feels like just yesterday that I was moving into my room in AMR II and wondering what life would be like here at Hopkins. How would I find friends? Would I be able to handle my coursework after a year of senioritis? What clubs should I join? Where could I get a job? I had a million different questions! Luckily, as life is wont to do, everything worked out and I found an amazing group of friends, clubs, and courses that I love—and now it’s already mid-April! I still can barely even believe I’m in college and suddenly it’s the end of spring semester? Where did the time go?! READ MORE |

Her Campus JHU: YouTubers Worth WatchingBy April 25, 2013 - 2:18pm We all know that some major celebs have reached super-stardom by being discovered on YouTube, like Justin Bieber. But there are also a lot of normal people who have their own shows and have become celebs in their own right. For example, I had no idea who Jenna Marbles was but the people of Tumblr make gifs of her videos all the time! I had to check out her channel. Three hours later I have no idea how it got to be the middle of the morning and I have class in 5 hours. The videos are so entertaining and just... there. Taunting you. Waiting for you to watch them. HC How To: Smoky Eye MakeupBy April 16, 2013 - 8:32pm The ‘smoky eye’ is a sexy look that will never go out of style. Once you get the hang of the basics you can swap colors and intensity to go from a daytime to nighttime look. Follow these steps for the classic smoky eye: 1. Apply a cream concealer or eyelid primer over your eyelid to provide a smooth base for your eye shadow. 2. Pick a color – black or grey look best! “Stay away from blue hues - which can make you look like you have under eye circles,” says Giorgio Armani makeup artist André Drykin. Instead, go for black, gray, brown or if you want "color," dark green shadows and liners. READ MORE |

Secret Week! : Adventures of a Pi Phi Baby AngelBy March 26, 2013 - 6:24pm Last week was Secret Week for two of the sororities on campus, including my sorority, Pi Beta Phi! For those of you who don’t know, Secret Week is what happens after bigs (members of an older pledge class in a sorority) have been given their littles (members of the newest pledge class!). Bigs spend the week leaving their littles gifts and sending them clues about their identity! It’s one of the best memories that many sorority girls have about their own days as new members. Going into Secret Week, I was crazy excited for the presents, and clues, but mostly just getting my big at the end of the week! READ MORE |

HerCrush: Jennifer LawrenceBy March 12, 2013 - 1:54pm Before I ramble on about my girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence, I have to think about why other people love her, too. In my opinion it is generally easier for a man in the entertainment industry because with the right amount of swag he can be adored by women and respected by men. The perfect example of this kind of man is Justin Timberlake. But, the thing about women celebrities is that they fit into certain categories in our minds, and this determines whether or not we like them. Jennifer Lawrence is the Best Friend and we ladies don't feel threatened by her. It is much harder to be a woman in the entertainment industry because women are judgmental of their own gender.
