In December we got an amazing opportunity to head to a cool place called Brooklyn Shoe Space to create our own shoes from scratch. The project was done through our Advanced Warp Knitting class, meaning that we had to use warp knit fabrics for our shoes. We created all of our own prints and dyed these prints onto fabric, creating a totally personalized canvas. From there we got to come up with the exact design of what kind of shoe we wanted! All of us used sneaker style pattern, with both of us specifically choosing to make ones in a more athletic style, but with our own personalized twist.

While that alone was enough, we were given the extra special opportunity to have our shoes on display at New York Fashion Week this past week. Epson, who makes the printer that we used to print our fabric designs, sponsored an event that kicked off the week dedicated to new fashion. Every piece of clothing that was presented was made using Epson technology, including some work done by Jefferson fashion design students. Our shoes were shown in the VIP section and were seen by a lot of exciting, interesting people that love fashion and innovative technologies.
