Manayunk Restaurant Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Manayunk restaurant week is upon us. From April 10th to April 21st you can check out some of Manayunk’s most well-known restaurants. They will be serving three course meals at prices of $15, $25, and $35.  Restaurant week is a great opportunity to take advantage of, because as college students we can rarely afford three course meals, and it’s a good time to try new things!  Here is a countdown of my top five spots to eat in Manayunk:

5. The Couch Tomato

The Couch Tomato and Bistro is a cute place on the corner of Main Street with great pizza and a laid back atmosphere.  The first floor is a pizzeria and café, and upstairs is the bistro, where you can get something a little fancier if you desire.  My favorite thing I’ve ever eaten there is the tomato bisque.  Also, they deliver!

4. Bourbon Blue

Self-described as “new American cuisine”, Bourbon Blue is a great place for the over-21 crowd, and great  for brunch.  They are located right off Main Street on Rector Street, with outdoor seating in the back and a gorgeous view of the water.  Their restaurant week specials are already up on their website, including blackened fish tacos and calamari.  Here’s me and fellow HerCampus’ gals Brittany and Julia enjoying brunch there in October!

3.  Yanako

Ask me what kind of food I’m in the mood for; the answer is almost always sushi. So, it makes me so happy that we have a great sushi place so close by.  They also have many other Japanese dishes, like delicious chicken teriyaki.  It has a beautiful garden-like atmosphere with hanging plants everywhere.  There’s also a traditional Japanese seating area in the window with a low set table where you can sit on the floor and eat.  It’s BYOB!

     2.  Smokin’ John’s Barbeque

I’m a sucker for good barbeque, and Smokin’ John’s is the best I’ve ever had.  You have the option of sitting down and being waited on or ordering right from the deli.  Their brisket sandwich is what dreams are made of.  They  have great Southern style sides like harvest greens and house slaw.  It’s a very laid back atmosphere and sometimes they even have live music.  I love it so much I had my 19th birthday dinner there!

  1. Lucky’s Last Chance

On the outside it may look like a dive bar, but inside they have the greatest burger ever invented, the Mak Attack.  It’s a delicious burger topped with cheese, then mac and cheese, then more cheese.  They even call their hot dogs “2nd place hot dogs” because they know nothing can ever live up to the majesty of that burger.

Hopefully this gave some good ideas of what places to visit during restaurant week!
