With school back in session and Her Campus Jefferson hitting the books once again, we thought it would be fun to start the semester off with our monthly favorites and take a look back on August for all the end of summer things we loved!

Chattanooga, Tennessee: This past August I went on a mini-roadtrip throughout part of the Southern U.S. and Chattanooga was the place that was the most surprising to me. It wasn’t even part of the plan to stop there, but I’m so glad I did! Chattanooga has lots of public art that is fun to walk by and a beautiful walking bridge that overlooks the river. I also got to eat some fried chicken and biscuits, which was easily one of the best meals of the trip. If you find yourself in the Chattanooga area, I definitely recommend taking a pit stop there. – Kellyn

IT by Stephen King: Over the summer, I finally had some down time to start reading for fun again. Usually, my book of choice is an autobiography written by a pop culture icon. But, when I saw this book in the clearance section of Target, something told me I should pick it up. I had always heard what an amazing writer Stephen King is, but this is the first book I’ve read by him and it is incredible. I never thought I would get so scared just from reading a book, but I can only read this one in a well-lit room with lots of people around. – Carly

Tate’s Bake Shop Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies: Over the summer I spent one month eating gluten free to see if it would change how I felt after I ate. While I did not stick to the gluten free lifestyle, I did get hooked on these delicious chocolate chip cookies. They taste exactly like my mom’s homemade cookies and take a little bit of homesickness away each time I eat them. – Julia

Toronto, Canada: For the past two summers, I have traveled up to Toronto to visit family. A Canadian told me that Toronto is Canada’s New York City. I strongly believe it because there is so much to do! You can even dine on top of the CN Tower and enjoy lunch with a spectacular view of the city from 1000 feet above. We did this one afternoon and it was one of the best lunches I have ever had. Toronto is a multicultural hotspot that I personally think is underrated. I was only there for a few days, but even in that amount of time I already want to go back. – Abbey

Mask of Magnaminty: Recently, I’ve been trying to use more natural ingredients in my skincare routine instead of packing on the chemicals. This Lush facemask has noticeably done wonders for my skin and has quickly become a staple in my skincare routine. You can feel your skin being cleansed with the minty and calming tingle of the mask. Simply smooth the mask all over your face, leave it on for fifteen minutes, and rinse off with warm water. It smells great and leaves my skin feeling super soft–what more could you ask for? – Cora
