Pre-Spring Break Prep: A Lazy Girl’s Guide to a Spring Break Body

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

I hate it when I’m at lunch and these crazy cats I’m sitting with decide to talk about working out. To them I say: I’m going to get another bowl of ice cream. In fact, for lunch today I had pizza and cupcakes. Good thing there was pepperoni on the pizza because, you know, protein. Gym time, right? No siree Bob. I’m the type of girls that sits in my towel after my shower because I’m too lazy to change, so I don’t know why people think I should have the motivation to work out.

This whole anti-exercise thing leaves me in a puzzle. Say I was going to go somewhere sunny and 75 for spring break. What would I do to get my body bikini ready? Lazy girl workouts, of course! I perused my Pinterest “health” board to find some workouts that I had obviously thought looked intriguing. I have four. Here are some of my all-time favorite workouts. Of course when I say “all-time favorite,” I really mean these are the only workouts I know of, so they must be good.

1. Pre-Shower Ab Attack

Okay, I actually did this for three solid days once. It’s more of a workout then I thought. After those first 50 jumping jacks I was like “AM I DONE YET?” You got me; the last time I “worked out” was four years ago during soccer season. Boy, did that phase end quickly. I love the quick variety this workout offers. 5 push-ups and 20 crunches? Come on, lazy girls, we can totally do this.

2. Lazy Girl’s Workout

I mean, duh. 4 different poses? Give me something challenging here! JK, don’t. Nobody needs regular crunches anyway. Reverse crunches and I will become new workout buddies. I’m also loving the “girl push-ups.” Because if anyone does normal push-ups, you’re putting too much effort in life. Save that would be push-up effort for more important things. Like eating (healthy foods if you’re THAT serious).

3. Tangled  Workout

YES. FINALLY. This is a work out I’m looking forward to. Pop in one of Disney’s most recent princess movies and work out! How does Rapunzel fit into that teeny tiny dress anyway? Hint: she was locked up in a tower her whole life, so she might as well have spent that time working out and singing. S/o to Disney’s trademark of not having its animals act like animals. 10 jumping jacks for that, folks.

4. Tank Tops Arms

The worst part about my body, I think, is my arms. This is probably because I can’t remember the last time I’ve done a push-up or anything remotely close to working my arm muscles. That’s a huge reason why I pinned this, and I can’t wait to try it out one of these days. Better late than never, right? The only bad part about this workout is that it makes me realize how much exercise lingo I don’t know. If someone could tell me how I “kickback” my tricep, that would be great.

5. Zumba

I LOVE Zumba. JCU has Zumba classes every Monday and Wednesday in the Fitness Studio. On Mondays, Zumba is from 6:30-7:30pm, and on Wednesdays it’s from 4-5pm. Get a group of friends together and dance your way to your ideal body! I promise you’ll love it! If you don’t live on campus, I’m sure there’s tons of Zumba classes in your area.

These are all the workouts I have for you. Mainly because these are all I could find on my Pinterest “health” board, which is pretty bare. No surprise there. Try them out and let me know what you think! Have an amazing spring break!
