The Kardashian Curse: Life After the Kardashians

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

After months of following the pregnancies of Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian, the last of the three, Khloe, gave birth to her baby girl on April 12.  Khloe has talked about wanting a family forever, but has not had the best of luck in the dating department.  When she announced her pregnancy in December, any true fan of the Kardashian family was more than happy for her and her boyfriend, Tristan Thompson.

As Khloe and Tristan prepared for their little girl to enter the world, cheating allegations plagued Tristan through video footage dating back to October.  Tristan also had a child with his previous girlfriend, who gave birth in December of 2016. He was also accused of cheating on his previous girlfriend while she was pregnant, although the ending of that relationship and the beginning of his and Khloe’s romance is a little fuzzy.  As of now, it appears as though Khloe and Tristan will remain together, but only time will tell. No one deserves to be cheated on and everyone deserves better than someone who would be unfaithful to them. But of course, love is still love and Khloe and Tristan’s relationship really only concerns them.  That being said, it may only be a matter of time until the Kardashian Curse rears its ugly head.

For those of you who don’t know, the Kardashian Curse is said to affect all those who have dated and split up with a member of the Kardashian clan, derailing their careers and removing them from public eye.  This has happened to numerous exes and Tristan may be next. As an avid fan of Cleveland sports, I can’t help but worry about the Cavaliers as they continue in the play-offs. Tristan has already been benched and has also received less playing time, in hopes of avoiding any on-court distractions.  If he isn’t playing, he can’t have a bad game and ruin the Cav’s chances, right?!

If you aren’t a believer of the Kardashian Curse, please take a moment to think about their exes.  How are they doing? If you can even name a few (because so many are irrelevant now), they are probably living a life incomparable to the lives they lead before they came into the life of a Kardashian.  Now, I’m not blaming any of the Kardashian members for inflicting this curse onto anyone, that just comes with the territory of dating someone whose life is so closely watched by the media. When you enter the public eye, there really is no getting out.  Everyone has a skeleton in their closet, and it’s only a matter of time until they’re exposed. But who knows, maybe the curse will end with Tristan? Maybe he will be able to escape the terrible fate of defacing his career and will be able to power through the rest of the playoffs, possibly leading (behind LeBron) the Cavaliers to victory!  Or, if not, maybe benching him isn’t such a bad idea…
