Netflix recently added a new show called “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” to its website for subscribers to watch. The show was originally set to air for NBC’s midseason. After taking a look at recent sitcom ratings however, the creators decided to move the show to Netflix.  “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” began streaming on March 6th. The show is a Netflix original, meaning that it can only be found on Netflix.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” was created by the executive producers from “30 Rock”, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. The comedy series stars Kimmy Schmidt played by “The Office’s” Ellie Kemper. Kimmy is a woman who starts a new life as a nanny for a New York socialite after being rescued from an underground bunker. Schmidt had been in the bunker since 8th grade. Now, 15 years later and armed with just a backpack and light-up sneakers, she tries to adjust to a world that she was told did not exist anymore.

Much like her character in “The Office”, Kemper plays a naïve, ditzy, fun-loving woman. In fact, the show was written specially for Kemper.

Kimmy rents a room (actually a closet) in a basement apartment in NYC. Her roommate Titus (played by Tituss Burgess) is a gay singer and daytime street performer. Kimmy works as a nanny/assistant for billionaire trophy wife Jacqueline Voorhees, played by Jane Krakowski.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” provides a great set of characters with a great cast. The dynamics between them works well and the storyline is quite unique. “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is for fans of “Parks and Recreation” and “30 Rock”. The show is witty, quirky, offbeat, and will have you laughing at the unexpectedly stupid funny things.

If you are looking for your next Netflix binge show and a good laugh, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is for you.
