This week’s campus celebrity is Matt O’Hara, a dedicated Junior with a passion for alumni relations, the outdoors, and Harry Potter. Currently, he is pursuing his degree in hospitality management so that he can help others in the future.
As the executive vice president of the IUP Ambassadors, Matt is responsible for ensuring that the students understand their future role as an alumnus in addition to creating links between current alumni, faculty, and students.
The Ambassadors also host events such as the alumni achievement awards, alumni reunions, and tours. Each year, the Ambassadors go through a recruitment process in which they receive applications, perform interviews, and ultimately select around 15-25 students to join the group. Matt’s favorite part of being an ambassadors is making connections with alumni that will allow better opportunities for other students in the future.
