Her Story: Semone Lincoln Donaldson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Semone Lincoln-Donaldson has her hands filled this semester as this week’s Campus Celebrity. Lincoln-Donaldson is a senior communications media major and journalism minor which is fitting for someone who aims to become a correspondent for CNN.

“I’m looking to travel the world,” she says. “I would love to go overseas because I’m really into learning new things about different cultures and bringing it back to the US.”

As she places her plans in motion, Lincoln-Donaldson prepares herself for a fast-paced career by getting involved in IUP’s PRSSA as well as television production in the communications media department.

“I want to enhance my knowledge of public relations and get to know the ends and outs of it,” she says.

PR is another field of interest for Lincoln-Donaldson who plans to jumpstart her career as a publicist and music journalist before becoming a news correspondent for CNN. With aspirations this high, it’s no wonder all of Lincoln-Donaldson’s spare time is spent her field.

Whether she’s joining one of IUP’s television stations to co-produce a new show (planned to air in the spring) or keeping up with the latest trends in media, Lincoln-Donaldson has no plans on slowing down any time soon.

“I am passionate about my field because it’s so broad,” she says. “If you don’t like something in one area, you can leave and find something else you enjoy. One job can lead into another job, and so on.”

Lincoln-Donaldson seems to have her hands in all areas of journalism and communications media.

“I want to do so many things,” says Lincoln-Donaldson. “I want to be a news reporter, a music journalist, a celebrity publicist, and then a news correspondent for CNN.”

In the moments when Lincoln-Donaldson is not knee-deep in her field, she enjoys spending time with her friends and having movie night.

“I love House Party 1-3,” she says. “I love Norbit, Never Been Kissed, 10 Things I Hate About You and all of the Twilight movies. It’s a time that my friends and I get to unwind and bond. We can talk about our week and just have a good time.”

This relaxation time with her friends is something Lincoln-Donaldson values and makes time for even in her busy schedule.

“I make sure I do what I have to do first,” says Lincoln-Donaldson. “If I don’t, who will? I try to prioritize so I can have free time to spend with the people I love.”
