I was lucky enough to be able to journey across the pond to London, England for my spring break. Having never been overseas, or out of the country for that matter, I was unsure of what to expect. Sure, I have studied British history, am a devout admirer and follower of the royal family, have seen a plethora of movies and read countless books taking place in the incredible city of London; however, I truly did not know what I was in for.

London surpassed all of my expectations. Seeing sites such as Westminster Abbey and the Crown Jewels, taking a ride up in the London Eye, and experiencing the thrill of being on the actual set of Harry Potter were amongst some of my most incredible moments. One of my favorite parts of the English culture, aside from the fact that I could legally drink, was their tradition of drinking tea and making an event out of it. I went to a couple afternoon high teas and absolutely loved it. Everything is petite and delicious and the tea tastes much better in London.

While in London I really took in my surroundings. I put away my phone, unplugged my ear phones, and just watched and listened to this foreign place that I was in. It’s incredible how much more you notice when you simply just look up. I listened to conversations in languages I had never heard. I saw people of all walks of life. I truly saw just how vast, different, and amazing the world is and how being confined in the states, I was never quite able to grasp these facts. London was an incredible city, opportunity, and learning experience and left me itching to wander more of this wonderful world.
