Am I Just an Addict, or is Glossier the New Beauty Mecca?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

I can’t remember the first time I heard of Glossier. I’d seen ads on Instagram and promotions from a couple of my favorite influencers. I loved the simple packaging and the cool names for all the products. When I found out that the creator of the company was Emily Weiss, I was hooked. For my The Hills super fans, she guest starred in three episodes as the intern that knew way more about flower arrangements than Lauren. I love trying new products and brands and I’m a huge fan of cool packaging. I’d been considering trying some products for months, but  for those working with a college student’s budget, there are cheaper options. But, what finally got me, was a comment I read on one of my all-time favorite blogs, Man Repeller. Specifically, I read a review of one of Glossier’s most famed products, “boy brow.” It’s a mascara for your eyebrows and makes for the quickest and most natural looking eyebrow transformation I’ve ever experienced. The rave review claimed that boy brow could give you the Brooke Shields eyebrows of your dreams. If you’ve never seen Brooke Shields eyebrows, do yourself a favor and check them out. Inspiring work, truly.

For the first round, I ordered boy brow and their Milky Jelly Cleanser, two of their best sellers. I would venture to say that I have a serious love affair with both of these products, though the relationships took very different courses. I fell in love instantly with boy brow and haven’t used anything on my brows since. It’s the best eyebrow product I’ve ever used and at $16, it’s not much more expensive than many brow fillers out there. A little goes a long way, so I’m hoping the tube will last me a while. As for the cleanser, the love grew over time. At first, I wasn’t too overly impressed because it did an absolutely terrible job at taking my makeup off. My face makeup came off, but my mascara was not phased. Eventually, I came to terms with the fact that this wasn’t the cleanser for that. Instead, I use it as a gentler cleanser when I’m in the shower or first thing in the morning when I’m makeup free. It has an awesome jelly consistency, the best smell, and is gentle enough to scrub all over your face without any irritation or redness.

A few weeks later, I decided to test out one of the four shades of Cloud Paint, Glossier’s liquid cream blush. It looks so natural and is so easy to put on. I can’t wait to try the other three colors, and have already been eyeing Puff, a bright pink shade. Finally, I tried the brand new liquid exfoliate, The Solution. It is life-changing.

All in all, try Glossier. It will truly alter your life and beauty regimen for the better.
