If you’re stuck in the dorms looking for a fun fall activity, Bloomington has a lot to offer. As the days cool down, and the pea coats come out, curling up on your futon and watching Netflix becomes more appealing. When you start to feel this way, grab a group of friends and head over to the pumpkin patch or an apple orchard. It’s a great way to get off campus and explore something new. Plan ahead and ask a friend with a car to take you to at least one of these places! All are less than 30 minutes away.
- Fowler Pumpkin Patch
This pumpkin patch is quaint and smaller than most patches, but the people are friendly and you can find a nice, cheap pumpkin. They also have a tiny petting zoo with goats and miniature horses!
- Musgrave Apple Orchard
Home of some of the most delicious apple cider I’ve ever had, Musgrave is a little bit farther away from campus but definitely worth the trip! They also offer wagon rides.
- Brown County State Park
I haven’t actually been exploring here yet but everyone says this is on their bucket list. You can go hiking, swimming, biking, or horseback riding!
- Barn of Terror
Located near an actual cemetery, this place is sure to be a fright. It’s open Halloween night if you’re looking for a scare!
