Places to go out other than Moonies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

Moonies is any Bomber’s favorite bar. For some reason we can all get past the three inches on beer build-up on the floor and the suffocating amount of people who show up every Friday and Saturday and have a great time. During the week, Moonies gives us college students little escapes from our grueling workload; Trivia Tuesday is my personal favorite. But, there are other bars out there if you don’t want to spend hours in the cold to half a shuffle as a dance.

Places in the Commons:

Lot 10: This a great choice for a couple of reasons. The first is that it has two floors, one that plays house music and the other that plays top 40. But, Lot 10’s best features is it’s two bars — no more lines — and it sells Luna’s Inspired street food right at the bar.

Silky Jones: This is another bar down in the commons that is known for great cocktails. It’s kind of small, but I’ve heard the drinks are great. Also, their famous flame nights are on Thursdays, so keep an eye out for that.

Kilpatrick’s: If you’re the kind of person who goes out on a Thursday, they have one of the best Karaoke nights in town.

Coltivare: This is not a bar, but they have happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  where you get a dollar off a glass of wine, buy-one-get-one on draft beers and amazing flatbread.

Bandwagon: Best pub for some greta fries and even better beer. Food stops being served after 11 p.m. but the bar is open until 1 a.m. if you just wanna grab drinks with friends. However, not the place to go dance.

Places near at Cornell:

Level B Bar: This is the closet thing in Ithaca to an actual Club is Level B. They have amazing theme nights, my favorite being Ladies Night on Saturday. Champagne from 9-11 anyone?

Loco Cantina: Great place for a drink and a dance.

The Nines: By far my favorite place in Collegetown because the drinks are great and the pizza is even better. It’s a restaurant by day, bar by night sort of deal, but pizza is always available. They have live bands during the week too!

Rulloff’s: This is another restaurant by day, bar by night deal. They have everything from brunch on Saturday’s and Sunday’s to wing night and Irish Sessions on Mondays and Tusedays  respectively. If you have an IC Senior card you can buy one, get one free on all draft beer pints, wines by the glass, and cocktails on Sundays through Thursdays from 9-10. Their schedule is always posted on their site.

Places around town

Agava: Agava is usually the go-to for a great meal, but on Wednesdays Agava turns into a Salsa Club. The environment is great. They host free dance lessons from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and after that, the party officially starts. The best thing about this is that it’s 18 and over, so everyone can join.

The Haunt: The best palce for all of your live music needs.

K-House: The K-House is by The Shops at Ithaca Mall, which is a bit far for most of us, but their Kareokee and Korean food in on point. You can rent out a private room for a group of people (highly recomend the emoji room) or you could just chill at the bar and listen to others sing — or you yourself could get on the stage.
