Disney just released the official trailer for the new live action Beauty and the Beast movie starring Emma Watson.
March 17 can’t come soon enough! If the Beauty and the Beast is anything like its trailer, it’s going to be great! It looks like the live action movie will be an almost shot-for- shot remake of the 1991 animated film, which is great news for die-hard fans who were worried that the new Beauty and the Beast would ruin the classic Disney story. However, it could be difficult for some of the scenes to translate, so it’s likely that there will be some changes.
Overall, the movie looks like it will be visually stunning. The scenery looks amazing and most of the costumes are beautiful. The Beast looked pretty realistic and based on the quick glimpse we got of Gaston; he is going to be perfect. That being said, I found Belle’s costumes to be underwhelming. Her blue outfit looks completely different from the original, and her ball gown looks like it’s missing something. Hopefully, Emma Watson’s portrayal of Belle makes up for her costumes.
Some of the occupants of the castle look great while I’m not a fan of others. Cogsworth and Lumiere look very fancy and in touch with the period, but what’s up with the feather duster? I’m also fairly certain I’ll have nightmares from Mrs. Potts and Chip — who knew fine china could be so creepy?
No movie is perfect, so it’s easy to look past some of the lacking details. Between the cast and most of the visuals, I think Beauty and the Beast will be great! If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you should watch it right now and see what you think.
