Need some extra motivation to hit the gym? Or maybe you want to reward yourself for all the preparation you’re doing for spring break? Never fear, there are plenty of absolutely adorable fitness get-ups that are sure to keep you heading back to the gym to show off!
Essential #1: Flashy Running Top
This running top is one of my all-time favorites! It’s the Women’s Ignite Singlet from Saucony (retail $30). The tank has nice thick straps to support any kind of activity. The angled horizontal stripes along with the colored side panels make for a slimming effect. The best part is that it is light-weight and will wick sweat away from your body, so no more of those ugly sweat stains! If you’re not a fan of the bright Starburst-like colors, it comes in some more subdued options, too.
Essential #2: The Never Fear Sports Bra
Do you hate that cute sports bras give you absolutely no support, but the ones that do their job are ugly as sin? Worry no more, the Moving Comfort Vero Bra (retail $42) is here to save the day. As a relatively well-endowed collegiate, I need a bra that can keep up with me for ten miles or a rambunctious Zumba class. Plus with plenty of colors to choose from, you can pick your favorite!
Essential #3: Shorts That Won’t End Up Inches From Where They Started
Want shorts that can do double time at the gym or lounging around in your apartment? (That is if Ithaca ever gets warm enough for shorts!) These Nike Rival 2” shorts (retail $50) are for you! The wide waistband is comfortable and effective at keeping the shorts from riding up. Although some of you may not be the biggest fans of built-in undies, I dare you to try it! Not only will you save on laundry, but you will have no dreaded panty-line and you may actually realize that they’re pretty comfy.
Essential #4: Warm Pants For The Never Ending Winter
These StudioLux® Quattro Leggings from Under Armour (retail $75) will keep you warm for those outdoor runs in the Ithaca tundra. I love these because they are super cozy. Not a fan of running around in tights? Toss a pair of your fave shorts over the leggings for a more modest look.
Essential#5: Socks Actually Designed For Sports
Bet you didn’t know that specialty athletic socks can be a lifesaver! When I was training for my half marathon, I swapped over to wicking socks, like the Feetures High Performance Socks (retail for $10 a pair), per a friend’s recommendation. I barely ever use anything else now! Socks with a wicking component keep moisture away from skin, whereas cotton socks hold the moisture close to your skin. The extra moisture causes blisters, rubs and some pretty unpleasant smells. Try out a pair of sports socks and your feet will thank you!
