5 Reasons to Exercise That Don’t Have to do With Appearance

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

1. Stress Relief

College life can be very demanding, and sometimes the responsibilities seem overwhelming. Doing even a light workout can help you to clear your mind and regain focus that you can put towards that stack of homework.

2. Self Esteem

Working out can make you feel unstoppable. Pushing yourself and doing something you couldn’t do before feels amazing and gives you a ton of confidence that can be apparent in your daily life.

3. Food

It’s no secret that picturing the food you get to eat after your workout is a great motivator. Refueling feels great, but keep in mind exercising is no excuse to go crazy with junk food.

4. Health

Being healthy is the most important benefit of working out. A healthy body doesn’t have to be one that is completely toned and flawlessly shaped, but rather one that can efficiently meet all the daily challenges you may face.

5. Adventure

Exercising can get you out of your dorm and out into the world around you. Taking a hike or even walking around shops in your town is a great opportunity to explore and sneak in some exercise.
