Get Fit This Summer with Nike Training Club Chicago

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.
A Chicago summer is characterized by its diverse neighborhood parties and lively summer festivals. Staying motivated during this time isn’t easy, especially when Netflix has become your bestie. But, summer is also the perfect opportunity to get back on your workout grind. Whether you’re looking to burn off all those calories from countless vodka cranberries you drank the the night before or training for a marathon, we all have something we’re working to achieve. What better way to make sure you meet your personal goals than with weekly workouts led by professional trainers ready to push you to your limits?

Lucky for us, Nike Training Club, “NTC,” Chicago has a solution by offering an unforgettable summer experience for women to explore Chicago and train with others in their community for free- everyone’s favorite word!

For six weeks throughout the summer, Nike Master Trainers Emily Hutchins, Katie Hiipakka, and Betina Gozo lead high impact intensity training NTC workouts to music chosen by the locals. With these intense workouts, your heart rate stays elevated, allowing your body to burn fat and build lean muscle. The trainers focus on six core moves: pull, push, bend, rotate, squat, and lunge. You’ll hate them mid-workout, but you’ll be thanking them after. Like they say, “train insane or remain the same.” Go for the challenge!

Held every Saturday morning in a different neighborhood, event attendees also get to trial new Nike footwear, view current apparel displays, enjoy a healthy post-workout snack (catered…yum!), and earn fun prizes.

To stay inspired, the crew also designed a QR code system to help track engagement with Nike. The more scans an NTC lady receives, the more opportunities she gains to earn surprises throughout the summer.

Future stops include Lincoln Park, Pilsen, West Loop, and Wicker Park. Each neighborhood has a vibe of its own. Summer tour guests can even help create the playlists by tweeting song choices within the chosen neighborhood genre to @NikeChicago.

The brand wants to encourage women to go out and explore, while pushing their bodies to their limits. They aim to provide women with access to fitness experts, innovative products, and everything else they need to achieve their fitness goals. Along with the tour, NTC also offers year-round classes at their Michigan Avenue location, two doors down from the Nike store. Classes include yoga, barre, “NTC” which is a HIIT type workout, and a run club. The workouts are also helping bring women together to train for the Chicago Marathon in October, the biggest city sporting event of the year. Nike is like your fitness best friend when it comes to looking beach-ready all year round!
