The Campus Comedian: Kevin TosiBy February 18, 2013 - 4:32pm Her Campus: So Kevin, where did your love for comedy begin? Kevin Tosi: My love for comedy began mostly with my family -- a lot of holiday parties. We are a really big Italian group and everyone is really funny. Some of my greatest memories are sitting around tables and laughing harder than I have ever laughed before. HC: Is there anyone in particular in your family that inspired you into this field? KT: A bunch of the guys in my family have always been funny. My cousins, my dad, my uncle -- my grandma's really funny, too. She doesn’t speak English too well, but the jokes are still great. An Olympian For Making A Difference: Rachel JoyceBy October 26, 2012 - 11:05pm Her Campus: Where are you from and what’s major? Rachel Joyce: I’m from Oakbrook, Illinois and I am an MCB major. HC: What prompted you to start Special Olympics at U of I? RJ: I knew people who had been in it and people who had volunteered with it, and they all really enjoyed it and said it was a really rewarding experience. We didn’t have anything on campus having to do with Special Olympics. There is a local Special Olympics, but not a lot of college students were involved in it. By starting this RSO, I thought it would open up a lot of opportunities for students interested in doing this kind of stuff. HC: What do you hope for for Special Olympics in the future? READ MORE |

Big Man On Campus: Brock GebhardtBy October 19, 2012 - 11:51pm I had no idea that my interview with the University of Illinois Student Body President would be so much fun. My assumption was that he would be very serious and "down to business," but this was not the case; at heart he’s a laid back student just like we the rest of us aim to be. Brock Gebhardt’s warm brown eyes and smile set the tone for our Campus Celebrity interview last Monday morning. This Peoria native, dressed in a conservative gray sweater and corduroys, is our campus’s student body president. His one year term began in April of this year, and coincidentally, inauguration day doubled as his 21st birthday! Brock is a senior, double majoring in Economics and Political Science. You can catch Brock Gebhardt in action every Wednesday during student... |
