Kevin Murphy Takes Care Of Your HairBy May 8, 2013 - 3:12am Hey ladies! About a year ago I wrote about my favorite hair care line at the time, Pureology. Since then, I’ve been totally taken by Kevin Murphy products! The Kevin Murphy products focus on the weightlessness and performance of their products, while other mainstream or traditional shampoos and conditioners strip hair of their natural oils, and “replenish” them with heavy conditioners. Like Pureology, Kevin Murphy uses renewable and sustainable resources whenever possible, and uses natural oils, extracts and antioxidants rather than harsh chemicals to keep hair healthy. READ MORE |

Should Celebrities Be Open About Getting High On More Than Just Life?By May 7, 2013 - 4:05am College sometimes seems like one of the only magical places on earth where you can do whatever you want, even if it’s illegal, and totally get away with it. It’s a sad thought since we only get four fabulous years in college wonderland before we graduate and have to adhere to the real world’s standards (and laws), but fear not, there is actually another magical place like college: Hollywood. I finally connected the dots this past 4/20 when numerous celebrities openly admitted to smoking weed and celebrating the infamous 4/20 holiday. Is it okay for Hollywood to be an adult version of college, though? Should celebrities be so open about breaking the law and smoking weed? There are two sides to this story. Let’s explore them. ... |

Say So Long To Your Beach Bum Style This SummerBy May 6, 2013 - 4:36am With summer right around the corner, it’s impossible not to think about the beach, but figuring out what to wear to the beach can be stressful. While your swimsuit is obviously your first concern, beach accessories are just as important! One of my favorite beach necessities is a great pair of sunglasses. There are so many options in terms of sunglasses right now that it’s easy to find a pair that you like. Popular trends right now include round, John Lennon-esque frames and frames in a variety of bright colors. READ MORE |

It’s Time For Women To Step Up As Leaders In The WorkplaceBy May 5, 2013 - 4:27am As a woman, it may be difficult to imagine being a powerful leader in the workplace when men typically hold those positions, but it’s time to step up. We know that we can do a job just as well, if not better than a man can. With a college education from a great University, there should be nothing stopping women from having leadership roles at work. According to PEW Research Center, women have just as high, if not higher career aspirations as men; “two-thirds (66%) of young women ages 18 to 34 rate career high on their list of life priorities, compared with 59% of young men.” Many women have these high aspirations but do not try to get ahead at work. Could Your Health Improve If You Put Your Smartphone Down?By May 5, 2013 - 4:00am It is not a common sight to see a college student, or anyone for that matter, using something other than a smartphone today in the United States. According to redOrbit.com, as many as 45 percent of American adults own a smartphone. That is almost half of the population in the United States using smartphones today. Years ago, the percentage would be much lower. Furthermore, a Pew Internet & American Life Project study found that young adults are most likely to own a smartphone. 66 percent of people in the 18 to 29 age group own an iPhone, Android device or other smartphone. With so many people using smartphones, it seems like college students have the risk of smartphones controlling their lives. How often do college students use their smartphones?... |

A Somber But Strong BostonBy May 4, 2013 - 1:56pm On April 15th, the morning of Marathon Monday, the country watched as a joyous occasion turned into a horrific tragedy in Boston. Explosions went off at the finish line of The Boston Marathon and left three dead and hundreds injured. An idyllic day turned into a scene from a horror movie and the repercussions of the incident rattled a city. “I found out about the incident 20 minutes or so after it happened while I was just a few miles away,” said Laila Khan, senior at Boston University. Khan explained that the course of the race goes right through her campus and she was cheering on runners and enjoying the festivities when she got a phone call from friends in California. READ MORE |
