3 Valentine’s Day Outfits for Any Kind of Plans

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Valentine’s Day in college is very different than when you were a kid. Back then, everyone in the class got cards and your mom was your Valentine. Now, it’s about finding a date so you don’t end up spending the night alone in your apartment with a bottle of wine crying over “The Notebook.” (Hey, we’ve all been there at least once.) If you already have your plans set, the next step is finding the perfect Valentine’s outfit. Here’s three options for anything you have planned from a romantic or fun date to a night out with the girls.

1. Romantic Date Outfit

If you’re the romantic type and are going on a fancy date with your significant other, a dress like this V-neck burgundy one will bring the Valentine’s Day romance. The flattering A-line shape and plunging neckline will show off just enough skin to catch your boy’s eye. Top it off with a pair of heels like these light pink ones for a festive touch without seeming like you’re trying too hard. Tear drop embellished heart earrings and a gold cuff will add just the right amount of glam to this look. If you have an extravagant date with Mr. Big planned or are just seeing how many bottles of Moscato you can sneak into a “50 Shades of Grey” showing with your date (no judgment), you’ll look fabulous no matter what.

2. Fun Date Outfit

Not all Valentine’s Day dates are fancy dinners. If you and your guy are for opting for something a little more laid-back, keep it casual with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and give your outfit a kick with a bright red leather jacket. Sleek black leather sneakers won’t keep you from an adventurous date. Whether your date is a friend, crush or significant other, you’ll be sure to have fun while looking great. Catch their eye with your carefree style and cool attitude. In reality most guys would rather have a snowball fight over an expensive dinner anyways.

3. Girl’s Night Outfit

You might be foregoing a boy all together and making Valentine’s Day all about a night out with your girlfriends. With these burgundy leather pants, black ankle boots, and fur vest you’ll look like a total rock star with all your girls by your side at Red Lion. You can dance the night away on elevated surfaces with a rum and Coke in hand without worrying about tripping in fancy heels. If all else fails, a graphic clutch like the one above should get your point across.
