10 Things to Do over Spring Break That Don’t Involve a Beach

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

Spring break is officially here which means a week full of relaxation! While many students find themselves on the beach over break it’s not in everyone’s future. So here are 10 things that you can do over break that don’t involve the beach (but are still fun)!

1. Take a Road Trip

Let’s face it, a warm sunny beach is miles away from the state of Illinois. So a road trip with your friends is a great way to have a vacation without the beach.

2. Visit Friends at Other Colleges

It’s the best of both worlds, you can enjoy all the fun college has to offer minus the actual school part and you get to see your friends.

3. Take a Day Trip

A day trip to somewhere like Chicago is a great activity for spring break. There is so much to do downtown with endless possibilities such as a museum or shopping.

4. Go Shopping

Out of nowhere Spring has come to Chambana and with that has also comes a lack of preparedness for spring clothing. Sure you can whip out your jean shorts, but let’s face it, it’s too early for that. A shopping spree is in order to freshen up your wardrobe so when you come back to school you will be fully ready to embrace the warmth in style!

5. Have a Netflix Marathon

With absolutely no school or homework to worry about, a Netflix marathon is in order. The great part about not spending break on the beach is that you won’t feel guilty binge watching your favorite shows. Plus, now you actually have time to start something new. And there is something quite fulfilling in completing a full season of a show on Netflix.

6. Enjoy Good Food

Nothing beats a home-cooked meal especially after dorm food and whatever you might be concocting in your apartment. So, if you are going home eating quality food should definitely be on your priority list. However, for students who do not plan on going home finding a great restaurant should be on your to-do list.

7. Craft

With so much free time over break you can finally get around to any crafting that you have seen on Pinterest. Plus, there are also tons of great DIYs that you can do on the Her Campus site! Be it crafting to improve the appearance of your room or something for your sorority sister spring break is the time to do it!

8. Have a Spa Day

A day at the spa is the perfect way to relax; especially after how stressful school has been! If you don’t want to spend the money to go to a spa there are plenty of spa treatments that you can do at home! Check out this article for ideas.

9. Hang with Family and Friends

Spring break is a great time to catch up with people you haven’t seen in a long time! So track down your friends and family to go out to lunch or see a movie. Plus, your parents will probably be willing to pay for you since you’re home!

10. Catch up on Sleep

What even is sleep? Spring break is a great time to reacquaint yourself with the wonderful thing that is sleep. Because after midterms, endless classes and all those other great things college has to offer, sleep is probably the best way to spend your break.
