Tuesday How To: Sugar Cookie Bars

Whether you’re spending this Valentine’s Day with a significant other, your girlfriends, or flyin’ solo, the perfect way to spend this heart filled day is by baking this awesome dessert. These sugar cookie bars are not only cute, but taste incredible! Valentine’s Day is about love, and who wouldn’t LOVE to do something awesome for themselves or someone else? You won’t regret making these sweet treats!
 

Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
 
Frosting: (You can always use store bought frosting as well)
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch sea salt
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
5 tablespoons milk
Food coloring, as desired
Sprinkles, for garnish, optional
 
 
Directions:
 
1.       Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2.       Line a 10 X 15 in. pan with parchment paper
3.       Cream butter and sugar on medium-high speed until fluffy (about two minutes)
4.       Reduce speed to medium and add eggs one at a time
5.       Add vanilla
6.       In a separate bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking soda
7.       Reduce speed to low, and add the flour mixture
8.       Once consistency is doughy, spread batter into the pan
9.       Bake for 15 minutes. Cookie bars should be a light golden brown. Stick a toothpick in center of the bars, if mixture comes out on toothpick, let bake for a few more minutes.
10.   Let cool completely
 
 
Frosting:
 
1.       Beat the butter
2.       Add vanilla and salt, mix well
3.       Carefully add sugar, one cup at a time
4.       Add mix until smooth
5.       Add desired amount of food coloring
 
 
These simple sugar cookie bars are sure to be a huge hit! Once they’re finished, decorate them however you want.
