When you think of football, what comes to mind? Is it big groups of drunken guys screaming at the game on their TV? Or is it the boys who seem to be religiously checking their fantasy football rankings? You can’t forget about that time you almost got hit in the face with a football while walking to class in the quad.
Football is not something that us girls tend to put as a top priority in our lives. Yes, we do enjoy attending the games to yell at the opposing team, socialize with the cute boys sitting around us, and to be a part of something with the rest of our school. But what some of us overlook is the amazing work that is being done on the field and all of the blood, sweat, and tears that are put into it.
While it is fun to go the football games to enhance your social life, it should also be a priority to show your school spirit and to support the hard-working, talented boys who are representing our school. Let’s all just take a second to recognize that the Redbirds are leading an undefeated season so far! YES, UNDEFEATED!
This year, the football team is doing big things. It all started with the kick-off game against Mississippi State on September 6, where the Redbirds had an astonishing win of 62-0. Yes, you’re reading that correct… they didn’t even let the opposing team score one touchdown; nice work boys!
Since that amazing win, the Redbirds have let no one stand in their way. The boys are currently standing at 5-0 after beating Indiana State this past Saturday. The boys will be playing at Western Illinois University on Saturday, October 18. Come out and show your support or even flip on the ESPN to watch and continue celebrate this winning streak!
