Lindsay’s Fashion Blog: Upcoming Spring trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Some people like surprises, others like planned events. Regardless of how you like to have your information it’s important to be prepared. Here is that heads up for the upcoming Spring months which is right around the corner, so it’s time to shed those winter cardigans and sweaters and start shopping for that cool breezy look!

After perusing the racks, surfing the web, and researching blogs I have complied the top 5 trends that you will want to include into your wardrobe. Or if you are looking to simply reinvent yourself.

1.      Crop Top
Yes, it is back again. I didn’t think it would go away any time soon to be honest so have your fill. The crop top is an insanely popular trend that I do adore but cannot personally wear. This half cut shirt shows off that tummy you have been working so hard for so flaunt it! Alternatives to this top are shirts that are hemmed short in the front and longer in the back, think a pianists tuxedo. It sounds ugly but trust me it’s cute!

2.      Pastels
Bright colors for spring? Sounds about right, ditch the darker colors and go for those colors that life your spirits! Pinks, baby blue, and canary yellow are some examples. Need more inspiration? Check out Louis Vuitton Spring of 2012 Ready to wear collection! If you don’t generally wear these colors try something new or start small like nail polish or makeup.

3.      Sheer
I predicted the future; the sheer maxi skirt is still going strong so take advantage of it!
Sheer shirts and skirts are making an impact in the fashion world and soon to be street wear. It is a classy yet daring piece that will make heads turn.

4.      Flats
Flats will never go out of style as are the same with skinny jeans; you simply cannot live without these two. It’s about time to treat yourself to a pair of flats that can either be basic and go with everything or a colorful pair. I’m sure your feet are tired of being covered up by Uggs, so give em a break. Not a fan of flats? Try oxfords, I am forever a fan of these shoes; they give off a sophisticated look to your outfit that flats might not be able to give.

5.      Colorblock
This trend surfaced awhile ago but its revival is coming back in full force. From purses to shoes it’s a clean style that is polished and can really show off your creative side when you mix the colors.
