HC Recommendations: Eyeshadow Palettes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Doing your makeup for some can be the very fun and relaxing and then for others it can mean watching the same tutorial five times and still not getting it right. Us ladies of Her Campus Illinois State are always here to offer our wise words of knowledge. With holiday’s like Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up where a million family photos will be taken we want to make sure you ladies look your best. Here are some of our recommendations for our favorite eyeshadows for all different types of occasions.

Arielle Steward would recommend the Cargo Bronze Palette: “PERFECT for everyday bronze look and even for going out! The shades are super pigmented and stay on ALL DAY. I usually wear it for my everyday look!”

Where: Kohls

Price: $45

Mallory Lovings would recommend the Shany Cosmetics Palette: “If you’re trying to have ‘lit’ eyeballs… but you live on a not-so-lit college student budget, definitely try out the Shany Cosmetics eye shadow pallets. The pallet is not Urban Decay or Too Faced, but it for sure gets the job done with a great variety of colors, shimmers and mattes and even better it has great quality. I own Lorac, Kat Von D, Sephora and other expensive brands, but this one for sure holds up to its end of the deal with a great price and great quality. I use it almost every time I do my makeup, even if I’m mixing with my other pallets! #LOVEIT”

Where: Amazon

Price: $10-$12

Morgan Basso would recommend Smashbox’s Brown Eyes: “They have a different palette for each eye color. It comes with shimmery & smoky so you can create diverse looks. The palette is created especially so each shade accentuates your eye color perfectly. I like it for day to day use: work, lunch date, dinner with friends.”

Where: Sephora

Price: $39

Renata Bella would recommend the Naked 2 Palette: “Love it because glitter. Who doesn’t love glitter?? And it also has colors I can layer and highlight with as well to get some bomb eyes!

Where: Sephora/Macys/Online

Price: $54

Whitney Scasny would recommend the Naked Palette Original: “I’m a huge fan of the naked palette #1 because most of the colors are fairly neutral and it is quality eye shadow that lasts all day/night long! The palette has lighter colors that I stick to during the work week and then bolder, sparkly options for a night out. Love it!”

Where: Sephora

Price: $54

Chloe Kasper would recommend Maybelline’s The Nudes Palette: “For someone who is always on-the-go, likes subtle makeup and is on a student budget this palette is the one to get! I wear the colors in this palette daily because they go with everything, alone or in different combinations, and it stays on all day long. I honestly can’t think of anything better!”

Where: Ulta, Target, etc.

Price: $12

Allison O’Brien would recommend the Tartelette by Tarte: “There’s lots of neutral nudes for a good daytime look, but also deep purples and Browns to take it into nighttime. I love it because I’m able to mix it up and do simple and dramatic looks with it. It stays on all throughout the day/night too!”

Where: Ulta

Price: $45

Katie Sall would recommend Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection by Too Faced: “I use this every day of my life and it’s lasted me for 2 to 3 years. Seriously all the colors are so easy to work with considering I don’t put much thought into makeup. So fun and will save your life if you need to get ready in 10 minutes.”

Where: Sephora

Price: $23

Sammie Cedano would recommend Urban Decay’s Smoky Eye Palette: “When I do my makeup, specifically eye shadow, I like to go all out and this palette is perfect for that. A lot of the colors in this palette are shimmery and have glitter, although there are a few matte colors. This is my favorite palette because it’s got such a wide variety of colors and it always makes me feel fierce!”

Where: Sephora

Price: $54
