On-the-Go Breakfast Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Being a college student, we want everything to be fast and easy for us. Most of the time, we’re too lazy to actually cook something healthy to eat, so we stick to Ramen or popcorn or snack foods. Even though most of us forget to eat it, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It revs up your metabolism, keeps you from binging, and keeps you in a good mood throughout the day.

Fruit.

If you’re looking for an easy “grab & go” breakfast, fruit is your best bet. You can grab an apple or banana and eat it on your way to class. If you want to add a little flavor to your fruit, pair it with some yogurt.

Cereal.

Cereal is as easy as you’re going to get. You can eat it right out of the box, or if you’re trying to get classy, add some milk. It’s one of the cheapest food choices out there and (if you choose the right one) it can be pretty healthy.

Bagels.

You can eat these right out of the package or toast them with some butter or cream cheese. If you want to get healthy, you can eat a whole grain bagel, but the less healthy flavors are always better. If you’re looking for a bagel while you’re on campus and don’t have time to stop home, just stop at Einstein’s or the Business Bistro in the College of Business.

Fruit Smoothies.

Mix all your favorite fruits and juices into one and make a delicious smoothie. Strawberry banana smoothies always hit the spot. You can also look on Pinterest and find a ton of Jamba Juice recipes and other healthy alternatives.

Eggs.

There is so much you can do with eggs. Whether you like them scrambled, sunny-side-up, with veggies, or with cheese, you can cook them in 5 minutes or less. Cheesy eggs are my personal favorite, but you cant go wrong with eggs and toast!
