Being involved on campus can be one of the best things you can do for yourself. As a sophomore on campus, Ashley is sure to keep herself busy. Whether it’s thinking of creative ideas for the ISU Pink Team or deciding on which ISU organization deserves money for events, Ashley keeps herself busy and tells how she keeps us with it and what it is like to be a part of so many organizations.

Her Campus ISU: What are all the organizations you’re involved in on campus?
Ashley Holmes: I am involved in The National Association of Black Accountants, ISU Pink Street Team, ISU Student Government Association, Student Involvement Funding Board, and ISU’s Academic Senate Administrative Affairs and Budget Committee.
HC ISU: Out of all the organizations you’re involved in on campus, how do you keep up with all them?
AH: I prioritize with certain organizations because some of them overlap and there can be different time conflicts. I have stronger commitments to other organizations than with others. I also have really good time management and organizational skills; I always make sure I keep up with what’s next on the agenda for me.
HC ISU: How has being a part of these organizations helped you throughout college? (Educationally and socially).
AH: It helped me meet a lot of different people and they all come from different backgrounds, which help expand the types of people I hang around with. A lot of the people I meet in these organizations have other friends that I hang out with which helps make new friends that are different from me. I also get a chance to see ISU from a different lens because of the organizations I’m in. I get to see a lot of the behind the scene stuff that happen on campus which is pretty cool.
HC ISU: What would you say to someone who is looking to be involved, but don’t know where to start?
AH: I would say first explore your options and what interests you and what your passion is. Being involved on campus is a lot of time commitment so if you’re not fully committed it can get really difficult to keep up with everything. Once you find an organization that you’re interested in, work towards an Executive Board membership so you can gain leadership experience.
HC ISU: What is your favorite thing(s) about being so involved on campus?
AH: I get to meet new people, work with people and have an opportunity to gain so much leadership opportunity, which will also help me with my career path.
