A Perspective on Politicians

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

With the current front-runners of the Republican Party and under the Obama administration, I don’t see much changing soon. Though I lean more so to the left than to the right, I was expecting to see more suitable candidates running for office on the Republicans’ side. My gatherings from the Republican debates have reinforced my notion that the Republican Party is settling for the safest way to win the election, not the best leader they could find. I do not know who I will vote for when November 6 arrives, but I do know that our people as a whole, not just politicians, need to start making our voices heard today. We let our politicians argue over what they believe is best for us. It’s almost like two children in a dispute over who gets to play with the toy. The point is, we have to do better regarding what we let our government do, which we elect, and knowing what the issues are in general. If the politicians can argue with each other, then we should be able to stand up as a country and resolve the argument, or at least be able to join it.
