Yesterday we hosted the official Her Campus Hollins launch party. Aside from it being an awesome time to celebrate the launch of Her Campus Hollins (aah, finally!), it was also a chance for us to finally share the awesome swag we got in our Her Campus Survival Kits. The night was full of lots of giveaways and excited sharing of both Luna Bars and energy drinks. But before we delve into that, let’s rewind a couple of weeks…
So a few weeks ago, we received this awesome care package from the Her Campus nationals office. The side of the box was stamped with the Her Campus logo. Upon opening the box, we found that it was our semester survival kit, and it was just completely filled with all sorts of fun goodies. On top was a Her Campus gym bag, which I immediately snagged. I’m hoping some people noticed it on Tinker Day…I wore it for the whole hike around the Loop. It definitely made my costume.
There were a few other things that I snagged for personal use: the Her Campus clipboard, Her Campus static cling, and a Her Campus pen. After that, we sorted the rest of the care package into giveaways and swag for our team members. It was so awesome to be able to publicize the Her Campus launch by having cool swag to give away to people. The week leading up to the launch, we did a small giveaway every day, drawing a random name from the people who “liked” the Her Campus Hollins page on Facebook. I loved seeing people get so excited about the launch, about the Luna Bars and energy drinks, about having Her Campus swag, that sort of thing.
I think the best part of having the Survival Kit and being able to do giveaways came when we actually had the launch party last night. Throughout the course of the party, we played games to do smaller giveaways. For example, we played Never Have I Ever, and the winner got one of the little journals that came in the care package. At the very end of the party, we did a giant giveaway that included an entire case of NeuroSonic energy drinks (they came in a different package), pens, a journal, a Procrastinating Audrey sticker, and a Chipotle coupon. Our lovely winner was so excited to be chosen, and I’m sure she’ll get good use out of all her prizes!
Hopefully, Her Campus Hollins will get more care packages in the future, so that we can continue to share the love with the rest of the Hollins Campus! I know that we had fun giving stuff away, and I’m sure you all enjoyed the opportunity to win stuff. It would be amazing if this could be a Her Campus Hollins semestrial or annual tradition. I suppose only time will tell!
