Benjamin Linetsky

Year: Sophomore

Major: Biomedical Engineering (Premed)

Hometown: San Francisco, CA

What made you decide to major in biomedical engineering?

I always liked math and science, and I was really good at it in school. Growing up, I was great at building – I would sit in my room for hours building with Legos and K’NEX, so I guess that’s where it all started for me.

What made you decide to attend a college on the opposite side of the country?

I always wanted to experience new weather, so that was part of it. Also after seeing Hofstra’s campus, I liked the atmosphere right away and decided to make the move.

What are you involved with on campus?

I’m involved with the Motor Sports Engineering Club. I’ve always liked the way cars looked, and I’ve been going to car shows for as long as I can remember. When I finally got a driver’s license, I bought myself a 1965 Mustang and did all the work on it.

What inspires you to get through every semester?

My girlfriend inspires me a lot because of how successful she is in her own endeavors.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself upon coming to Hofstra?

Besides the fact that I don’t like “actual weather”, I’ve learned that I really just love to make people laugh.
