Hofstra's Take on Adderall and Academic Integrity

  Finals week is a college tradition synonymous with energy drinks, all-nighters, and stress ridden internet memes. But more and more, a new addition to students’ finals week artillery is Adderall, a stimulant drug meant for the treatment of attention deficit disorder and narcolepsy. Depending on the dosage, the medicine allows its user to stay awake and focused on a particular task without disruption for up to sixteen hours. READ MORE

Hofstra's Annual Late Night Breakfast Always a Crowd Pleaser

There's no greater sign of another semester under your belt at Hofstra than the Annual Late Night Breakfast. And with new items added to the menu along with a bumping sound system, this year's once again failed to disappoint.  The breakfast is scheduled every Monday night of dreaded finals week at 10 pm. But c'mon collegiettes, we know better than that. As always, the line for the food began forming in the back of the Student Center eating area around 9:15 pm with pajama-clad students emerging from all corners of campus as if moths to a flame. The line soon wrapped all the way to the other side of the Student Center near Card Services....

Is There Still a Point to Getting a College Degree?

  A graduating senior at Quinnipiac University, Fresnelson Charlestin is less than a month away from entering “the real world”; the proverbial stage of adulthood filled with entry-level jobs, crappy apartments and dry cleaning your one good suit over and over for every business dinner. It’s the anticipated struggle of every young grad out there.  “If people see a young person these days, they automatically ask what college they go to, what’s their major or when they’re graduating…it’s expected” says the 21-year-old political science major. Charlestin believes such emphasis on college has become a “cultural thing” associated with American life. “Its seen as, not bad, but just different if you don’t go to college after high school.”...

We’re teaming up with New York City fashion boutique ClosetDash to host an event where you can bring in gently used clothes from your own closet and trade them in for free for the clothes other students brought in! Hofstra Sends Its #PrayersforBoston with Candle Light Vigil

The University combined its Hofstra Pride with Boston Pride on Thursday, April 18th, at a candlelight vigil for those affected by Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing. Although the percentage Hofstra students hailing from New York is around 65%, this past week was all about Massachusetts in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings Monday that killed 3 people and injured hundreds more.
